This Week at 4:12

Luke Overland   -

4:12 Student Ministry

Tonight:

Tonight at 4:12 we kick off a new series looking at the sermon on the mount! Jesus teaches that that God cares about the heart not just our actions. Tonight we talk about How Jesus came not to cancel out the Old Testament but to fulfill it. That Jesus gives us his righteousness and he takes on our sin. And that this is not just doing the right things, but God looks at our heart, desires and what we think.

  • Key Scriptures: Matthew 5v17-20, Micah 6v8
  • Bottom Line: Jesus came to be what we could not living a life that met God’s standard. Jesus cares about our heart and our actions.

Continue the conversation:

  1. What was discussed tonight? What stood out?
  2. How was the law a temporary solution until Jesus came? Did it work?
  3. If you could control 100% actions would you be a good person?
  4. Define the word “righteousness.” How do we become righteous?
  5. What does it mean that Jesus is the source of righteousness?
  6. In what way do you see how your heart or peoples heart leads to actions?
  7. What are you valuing above Jesus that needs to be adjusted this week?
